"THE hip hop renaissance man with innovative beats, smooth, thoughtful rhymes, and an unforgettable stage presence"

Nex Millen/Retrospective is a Philaphelphia-born artist, producer and DJ.   He was a member of Deadly Snakes (Tommy Boy Records), co-founder of Camden, New Jersey-based Breakbread Projects and a member the critically-acclaimed group Nuthouse.

His love for music began with his grandfather, famous Philadelphia DJ Disco Dazz, member of the funk band the Zodiacs and owner of the world’s first drive thru record store Dazz Records in Camden, New Jersey.  After growing up in a musical household and business, he was introduced to DJ’ing by his uncle and has been spinning ever since.

Millen began to produce with his friend and D.J. partner Kool A.I.D. for his group D-Bas.  His first major production release was for the Deadly Snakes. Millen went on to do free lance production, engineering and DJ’ing for Sony Studios (NY) and Sigma Sound Studios.  He was an Aritist Development Representative for EMI/Capital Records

Millen began rhyming professionally in 2000.  He has released several recordings with former groups Soul of the Lost Elements and Group of Pimps.  He has also produced numerous singles, albums and mix tapes for other artists.  (See Discography below.)  Millen was the Music Supervisor for the very successful And1 B-ball mix tapes, and his music was featured in the Jet Li movie, "The Black Mask."

Millen has toured extensively, performing across the United States and throughout Europe.  He was the Music Coordinator for the Digable Planets 2005 Reunion Tour UK.

His 2006 release, "Who Is Mumia Abu Jamal?" features Millen’s original music accompanying the spoken word of the controversial political prisoner currently on death row.

Check out Millen’s 2007 debut solo release, "Hard to Kill:  The Hip Hop Chronicles of Nex Millen" available online (see discography below) and at the Culture Store.
